St. Nicholas and the Tanks

Children’s smiles spread to the men
Who presented joy
After a long nightmare’s sleep
To the girls and boys.

Tanks, raged as a flood
Across the snow-covered fields
Now stained with their blood.

This is my first Sequidilla form poem about two related events that took place in Wiltz Luxembourg in 1944. My father participated in both and was lucky enough to have survived the second.
